Diagnosing Lyme Disease
How do I know if I have Lyme Disease? This is a common question I get from patients and other
Lyme disease, also known as Borreliosis affects up to 300,000 people in the US annually. Although it can take some time, many patients at Crawford Wellness are able through consistent treatment to reach Lyme Disease remission and stay there.
While many people effected by Lyme Disease will be appropriately treated with antibiotics in the acute stage and hopefully cured, many thousands more will miss the window of time where acute diagnosis and treatment are possible, leading to chronic Lyme.
Chronic Lyme can affect every system of the body but most often presents with joint pain and arthritis, fibromyalgia-like pains that come and go and wander throughout the body; depressive fatigue and mood issues; migraine headaches; cognitive problems (‘brain fog”); digestive disorders; and neuropathy. Many chronic neuro-degenerative conditions such as demyelinating diseases/MS, Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s may be related to Lyme and develop as a result of infections going untreated for years or decades. Additionally, patients suffering from Lyme often have multiple infections beyond Borrelia such as Epstein-Barr Virus, Bartonella, Babesia, Erlichia and others. They are also more prone to injury from Toxic Mold, Heavy metals and Pesticide residues.
Crawford Wellness is known locally, regionally and nationally as a resource for people seeking relief from chronic pain of any cause; autoimmune conditions and chronic infections, and neurovascular conditions including stroke rehabilitation, but its main focus has become the treatment of patients with chronic Lyme disease. Although less common on the West Coast than the Northeastern US, Lyme is on the rise in Oregon and nearby areas and many patients have had difficulty finding their symptoms verified by a skilled diagnosis, and even more challenge finding appropriate and effective treatment.
Through the careful study and treatment of hundreds of patients with chronic Lyme, Brehan has refined and pioneered new ways of using three thousand years of Traditional Chinese Medical history to help those affected with this ailment find a path to remission and recovery.
Our clinic has grown from serving McMinnville, Oregon and the surrounding Yamhill County area to having patients from the Portland Metro area, the Oregon coast, the I-5 corridor, many other states and even as far away as Singapore, China, Germany and the UK who travel for treatment.
Brehan Crawford has focused his career on the careful study and treatment of patients with chronic Lyme and is one of the leading practitioners in the US pioneering new ways of using Traditional Chinese Medicine to assess and treat patients with this debilitating condition.
